Therapy: Throat Chakra

                                                        Throat Chakra: I Speak

The Throat Chakra is the house of a person's self-expression, communication, honesty, authenticity, and their true-life purpose. It is also at the centre of our ability to listen to others.

In Sanskrit this chakra is, VISHUDHA.

It lies at the centre of the throat where the thyroid gland is located.

The colour of this chakra is a vibrant, peacock blue.

When this chakra is out of balance, we will have difficulty in communicating with others. A blockage of self-expression prevails along with a lack of confidence when communicating with others. A person with a blocked throat chakra can come across as extremely shy or can display a very secretive personality. A person with an obstructed or imbalanced throat chakra may also suffer from headaches, oral health issues and/or a sore throat that won't go away.

When in balance, a person is better able to communicate and express themselves There is a confidence in their interactions. The person with a fully active Throat Chakra is unafraid of speaking and seeking their truth.

Yoga poses that can help to awaken and balance the Throat Chakra include the cobra pose, the fish pose, camel pose, and child pose.

The mantra for the Throat Chakra is, HAM.

Affirmations:

I am an honest person.

I can convey my feelings.

My ideas matter.

My opinion matters.

I can listen to and honour the opinion of others.

Foods:

Blueberries, figs, blue corn, coconut water and/or tea made with butterfly pea flower can help heal and balance the Throat Chakra.

Crystals:

Sapphire, azurite, celestine, sodalite and turquois

It is important to note that all the seven chakras must be aligned and balanced, we cannot single out one chakra to bring harmony to one area of our lives. All the chakras are deeply connected and 'retuning' just one will not be of any benefit.
